Oasis Academy Immingham sixth form student Stacey Bingham has been rewarded for her incredible learning transformation, by winning the ‘Greatest Personal Improvement in Learning Award’ at the inaugural Oasis Community Learning Annual Awards held in Birmingham on the 11th May.
For Stacey, aged 17, learning has always been difficult and has had a negative impact on her attendance, independence and confidence. However, through concerted effort, a huge amount of hard work, and wonderful support from the staff at Oasis Academy Immingham, Stacey is now beginning to turn her situation around. As evidence of her improved situation, Stacey is now more comfortable with communicating with others and is vastly more independent, even to the point of volunteering at the Academy’s Hair & Beauty Salon – a huge leap as it is outside of her comfort zone.
Stacey’s tutor said, “Staff and other students are constantly commenting on the transformation they see in Stacey. She has worked so hard to overcome her personal battles. I am extremely proud of her.”
Tony Rawdin, Principal of Oasis Academy Immingham, said, “Oasis Community Learning have recently launched their Charter2 which, amongst other things, says we are unique, we are perseverance, we are hope and we are future. Stacey has always been a unique individual. As a result of her perseverance, she most definitely has hope and a bright future ahead of her. Well done Stacey!”
Stacey said, “I am really pleased to get this award. I want to thank all my teachers for helping me, and Steve Chalke for helping start Oasis Academy Immingham.”
Our Education Charter statements encapsulate the core essence of what Oasis Community Learning is striving to achieve; the values in the statements express what motivates our educational emphasis and focus, while also describing the attitudes and attributes shared across our organisational family. These statements are our identity and DNA – they inform the reader or listener who we are, and what we want to achieve, both in an educational setting, but also in our holistic approach to each and every person we encounter.
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
