Following an OFSTED inspection on the 1st-2nd December, Oasis Academy Immingham were pleased to receive an encouraging report from the Inspector. The report outlined many areas which were judged to be good, and highlighted some satisfactory areas in which the Academy can improve, all of which the Leadership Team were aware of and already addressing.
The report praised the Academy leadership, saying: “A sense of purpose is evident at all levels of leadership and management. Strong strategic leadership, coupled with clarity of vision around the Academy’s future direction has been translated into coherent and robust structures and systems.”
The report was also complimentary of Tony Rawdin, the recently appointed Executive Principal: “The Executive Principal is providing strong strategic leadership, driving the Academy forward with a clear sense of direction and purpose.”
Other sections of the report focused on how well the Academy had come through the process of becoming an Academy and was already rapidly improving, with rising attainment. Especially highlighted was the progress and speed of improvement at Key Stage 4.
Special praise was also reserved for the Academy’s specialism of Engineering with Business and Enterprise, and the success this is leading to: “Under good leadership, they are having a positive impact on students’ achievement, personal development and self-esteem. The Academy works in effective partnership with other agencies to care for the most vulnerable and to provide a relevant curriculum to meet older students’ individual needs and interests with the result that almost all Year 11 students in 2009 continued in education, training or employment.”
This work has been evidenced through successful, local business partnerships that the Academy have fostered, most notably with Conoco-Phillips.
Mr Rawdin, said, “While recognising that we still have things to work on, it is very encouraging to receive such a report from OFSTED that focuses on how far we have come and how much we are improving. The areas they highlighted as needing work had already been identified by staff and measures put into place for dealing with them. The report merely strengthens our resolve to continue making large strides forward in terms of attainment and improvement. I am pleased for the staff and most importantly our students, who deserve nothing less than our full efforts at making Oasis Academy Immingham the best educational establishment in this area of the country. On the grounds of this report, we believe we are on the right path to do so.”
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
