“Business as usual”

The heating problems that we experienced yesterday have been rectified and we do not envisage any further immediate problems.  This means that the Academy is open as usual and we will now be focussed on making up the learning time.

As Principal of the Academy, the decision to close is not taken lightly, as evidenced by the fact that we managed to keep open throughout the worst of the winter snow when many other schools were forced to close.  However, in this case, we were faced with a situation where the temperatures in the vast majority of the school were well below the requirements, with no assurances that the problems could be addresses quickly.

I would like to thank all parents and guardians for the swiftness of their response, following the initial test message.  I was also impressed with the way that our staff responded, especially the administration team, and the students themselves deserve praise for the clam way that they also dealt with the news.

Finally parents can be assured that a contingency plan was in place for those children who were unable to go home.  It is the Academy’s policy never to release a child during the course of the day without parental permission and a safe place to go.  Whilst this “policy” was tested to its limits yesterday, it was gratifying to see that we could make it work in practice.

Thank you all for your continued support and let’s hope that Spring is on its way soon!!!!

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
