Academy Engineering Day

Year 7 students took part in the following challenges and tasks :-

Egg drop - Where teams had to create parachutes for eggs. This helped pupils to develop good team work plus effective use of resources and good decision making.

Bricklaying - This was an opportunity for students how to learn how to use new tools and understand that good estimating of quantities, and the application of consistency when laying bricks will produce high quality results.

Mechanics:  Students learnt the importance of accuracy and precision in engineering, how various car parts fit together, and how each individual part has a vital role to play.

Year 8's were involved in creating a puppet show helping to understand how a sequence of activities is needed to complete the whole. This helped to develop an understanding that both the process and the outcomes are important.

Year 9's had two challenges the first being creating a copper sculpture using traditional plumbing processes. They were taught how to make good joints in copper plumbing pipes, using traditional plumbing methods and demonstrating some artistic skills using an industrial process.

The second challenge was create a Drama Presentation.  Students found out and utilized different engineering processes, understood that each role in a team has its importance, and how they are reliant on each other to gain success.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
