24 Hour Football Challenge - 1,440 minutes of football started at 6.30pm on Friday 26th March and finished at 6.30pm on Saturday 27th.
24 hours of hard-core endurance faced students from Years 10 and 11 during the weekend that really brought everyone together. At times throughout the day students were found in corridors and even cupboards, catching 5 or 10 minutes of shut-eye before they were due back on the field of battle. Students and staff alike came along to support what was another success, following on from such events as the Year 7 and 8 Disco that was organised back in February by Year 11 students.
Everyone was treated to the taste of celebrity when record England cap winner Peter Shilton made a special appearance. Mr Morris, a big Nottingham Forest fan, gave Peter the opportunity to remind everyone that even though he was denied a World Cup final appearance back in Italia 90, he did however win the European Cup in 1979 and 1980 (Mr Rawdin would have been very jealous - also a Forest fan!). Despite the generation-gap, Peter's appearance gave everyone a boost, allowing the boys to push onto the end of what was a fantastic event.
Student and staff quotes:
"This past 24 hours has been a success on so many levels. It has been another example of the excellent community that we have here at the Academy".
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
