This course is the equivalent of 2 A levels. It is a practical vocational course which will be tailored to suit your needs and interests. Unit options will be discussed which include: TV and Film Acting; Theatre in Education; Masks; Contemporary Theatre; Devising Plays; Radio Acting; Physical Theatre and many more. Students will then be able to progress on to a Theatre/Drama degree course.

employment, or progress to Higher Education
vocational qualifications such as BTEC Higher

Music Technology  (Recording)

It is designed for students aged 16+ who would like to follow a vocationally relevant music technology qualification
Students will study 6 bunits in total including three core units: Creating a Music Product, Planning a Music Recording, Sound Recording Techniques.
The 3 other units, decided as a group at the start of the course, include, Audio engineering and the music freelance world.
Overall this is a very practical course with lots of opportunities to use the fantastic equipment we have in the Academy.

Students have the opportunity to study the many facets and uses of photography from fashion modeling to food packaging. Students are required to take and edit their own photos for their coursework portfolios and final projects. Students will  have access to the latest digital editing software.

Grade C  or equivalent at level 2 Art is preferable.

BTEC National Award

The BTEC National Award in Sport is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge, understanding, practical skills and expertise required for success in current and future employment in the sport and recreation industries as well as progression to higher education. Units studies include: Health and Safety in Sport; The Body in Action; Training and Fitness in Sport and; working with Children in Sports amongst others.

Media Studies is an insightful course into the world of the Media. The course enables students to analyse all mass media products including television, magazines, Internet and the music industry. Students are required to undertake a practical production which will enable them to produce a  advertising and marketing campaign. If you have a genuine interest in investigating and analysing the Media then this is the course for you!
