All students will study core human and physical geography covering amongst others: rivers, floods and management; plate tectonics and associated hazards; food supply issues, energy issues and health issues; contemporary conflicts and challenges. Practical fieldwork and investigations are integral components of the course.

This course at AS level enables students to study the units of ‘Britain 1815-65’ – how the industrial revolution propelled Britain into the role of world superpower, and ‘Russia under Peter the Great’ – an amazing man who was determined to drag his backward country into the modern age and into Europe. The A2 provides the opportunity to build upon the work begun on Britain at AS level and to conduct a Personal Study.

Students will develop a knowledge and understanding of the legal system, law making, the concept of liability, introduction to contract and an ability to evaluate operation and performance of all of the above components. The course provides students with a fascinating insight into the vast world of the law and a sound progression route into Higher Education.

Students choose two units from the following.  It is possible to choose from Roman as well as Greek units and Ancient History can also be included:
• Mycenaean archaeology, art and architecture
• Principles and practices of archaeological methodology
• Homer's Odyssey and the society and values it represents
Greek Tragedy. • The works of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides, as works of literature and as social documents
Greek History. • Historical texts by Thucydides, Herodotus and Plutarch

This course allows students to acquire knowledge of critical understanding of contemporary social processes and social changes and to develop skills that enable individuals to focus on their personal identity, roles and responsibilities within society.
