Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Mrs Churches - Rosa Parks

My name is Mrs Churches and I am Head of House for ‘Rosa Parks’.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working as a drama teacher within the Academy, for the last 10 years. As someone who grew up as part of this community, I am passionate about making a difference and fully committed to improving the life chance of our students.

My other interests include: spending time with my family, visiting the theatre and following the fortunes of Immingham Pilgrims Football Club.

Our House is called ‘Rosa Parks’ in recognition of Rosa’s inspirational, bravery and her crucial role in the civil rights movement, which resulted in changing American history forever. Rosa Parks once said “Live your life as a role model for others,” we feel passionate about this and are always trying to be the best versions of ourselves in all we do as represented in our academy values.

I am extremely proud to be Head of House for Rosa Parks and feel privileged to be working and supporting such incredible students. My role is to ensure that all students in ‘Rosa Parks’ feel that they belong to a house that they can be proud to be a part of. Together with our fantastic team of tutors, we ensure that tutor time is structured, organised and meaningful.

We firmly believe that we are the best house, because we all try to be the best that we can be. When we make mistakes, we learn from them and use this learning to help make better choices, this is a key life skill.
