Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

All systems relating to Special Educational Needs at Oasis Academy Immingham are fully in place, meet statutory requirements and have regard to the 2014 Code of Practice, the Equality Act 2010 and the Children and Families Act 2014.

The Academy has a strong reputation for supporting the individual needs of all students and in particular those students identified as having special education needs. With an exceptional team in place to support our students within a bespoke learning environment we are able to demonstrate great success in our outcomes.

The Academy greatly exceeds National Averages in terms of the average points score of those students with special education needs both with and without a statement whilst at KS3 we have a strong programme of support and intervention to accelerate the reading and literacy skills of our students who may arrive at the Academy below the expected standard. By the end of year 8 we are delighted to report that 85% of our students have sufficiently caught up in their reading to enable them to successfully access the National Curriculum whilst specific intervention remains in place to support those that need it throughout.

Admissions Policy - Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Oasis Academy Immingham has an Admissions Policy published on admissions section of the website. The policy is underpinned by the Equality Act 2010. Where the number of applications for admission is greater than the published admission number, admissions of students with statements/EHCPs (Education, Health Care Plan) of Special Educational Needs where the Academy is named in Part 4 of the statement EHCP will take priority.

The Government now require all schools and academies to inform parents/prospective parents what support they offer to children with SEND.
